How do I Select the Correct Size?

We recommended that the dimension of the aperture (which refers to the opening width between walls or posts) be slightly larger than the physical width of the gate itself for an optimal fit. 

Pedestrian Gate: The aperture must be 30mm wider than the physical width of the gate. This allows the hinge and lock plate space and enables easier installation and adjustment. 

Driveway Gates: The aperture should be 30mm to 60mm larger than the physical width of the gates. This larger gap is necessary to allow the gate to swing freely and provide space for any additional hardware or mechanisms, such as hinges.

Are Non-Standard Sizes Available?

We can offer custom widths but cannot modify the height. This means you can request a specific width that is not a standard size, but you will need to choose an already available height. Therefore, checking the available height options before placing an order is essential to ensure that the gate will fit your needs. 

Regrettably, we cannot provide made-to-measure sizes for the arched designs.

What Components do the Gates Include?

We include specific hardware and accessories with our driveway and pedestrian gate designs. 

Driveway Gates: Each pair has two floor-mounted hinges and four wall-mounted hinges. In addition, we have optional accessories that customers can purchase separately online, such as an integral lock, drop bolts, and posts. 

Pedestrian Gates: These include two wall-mounted hinges and one floor-mounted hinge. They also come with a lock and handle and a full-length lock plate. It is important to note that the specific hardware and accessory options may vary depending on the gate design. 

Customers should always check the product details and specifications before purchasing to ensure they get the hardware and accessories needed for their specific installation.

What is the Thickness of the Aluminium Profile?

The framework depth of our aluminium pedestrian gate is 45mm. The double gates have a profile diameter of 55mm.

Which Side of the Opening Does a Pedestrian Gate Hang?

The lock has a universal design, allowing it to be installed on either a left or right-hand hanging gate. This can be helpful for customers who may have specific requirements for installation, such as swinging in a particular direction.

Can the Double Gates be Operated with an Electric Motor?

You can fit an electric motor onto our double gates for automation, which can be a practical option for customers who want the added convenience of opening and closing at the touch of a button. Automation kits typically include the motor, control panel, remote controls, and other necessary components.

However, it's important to note that we do not sell automation kits, so you must purchase this from another source.

When purchasing an automation kit, it's essential to ensure that it is compatible with the specific gate design and size.

You should also check the installation requirements and any necessary safety features, such as sensors or obstruction detection, to ensure the motor can be safely installed. We always recommend you consult a professional installer for guidance on selecting and installing an automation kit.

Why are the Floor-Mounted Hinges Used?

Aluminium posts cannot have wall-mounted hinges fastened to the bottom of the post. As a result, if aluminium posts are used, you must use floor-mounted hinges instead. These hinges attach to the ground's surface or a concrete pad, providing a secure and stable mounting point for the gate.

Is it Possible to Reuse Your Current Posts?

Reusing posts can be a cost-effective and convenient option, as it can save the time and expense of installing new posts. In some cases, it may be possible to reuse the current posts if they are the correct size and type. However, it's vital to ensure they are still in good condition and are suitable for the specific gate design and installation.

Factors to consider when determining whether to reuse existing posts include:

• The size and weight of the gate.
• The type of material used for the posts.
• The condition of the posts (e.g. any signs of damage or wear).

What Method Should Be Used to Install the Aluminium Posts?

Depending on your available surface and ground conditions, you can install the posts in varying configurations. 

Bolt Down: If a suitable hardstanding is available, you can bolt them down using the base plate included with the post. This is a relatively simple installation method that provides a secure and stable mounting point for the gate.

In-Ground: When a suitable hardstanding is unavailable, the posts can be sunk into the ground to an appropriate depth to suit the conditions. The depth required may vary depending on factors such as the weight of the gate and the soil type. Once the posts are in position, you should support them with concrete to provide additional stability and prevent movement.

If Aluminium Posts are Used, How is the Hinge Mounted?

There are limitations to using wall-mounted hinges at the base of these posts. Due to inadequate access to fasten the hinge bolts, you cannot use these at the bottom of aluminium posts. In these instances, you must utilise floor-mounted hinges.

These must be attached to the ground's surface, providing a secure and stable mounting point for the gate. In contrast, because you can access the inside of the post at the top, you can torque the nut and bolt that holds the upper hinge in place.

How Long Will They Last?
